Bio

In describing my work, a term comes to mind: Naïve-Primitive. I love rendering works that celebrate the essence and beauty of nature, particularly animals in their natural habitat, using vibrant colors and simple compositions with bold strokes and line.

Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, October 29th, 1947 and New York City resident since September 1968, I have since been doodling, drawing, and painting since the age of three with breaks here and there to attend military service in the 1960’s and pursue an acting career in the 1980’s where I met and befriended the legendary Jackie Curtis of Andy Warhol movie fame.

Since 1989, I have been motivated toward a career in painting – primarily in the medium of acrylic on canvas and have shown work at job sites, bar and restaurants, and in the lobbies of banks and hotels. Since 1994 I have exhibited my work on a regular basis at the Times Square Lobby Gallery in midtown Manhattan curated by Cyn McLean.

March 2004, at the show I was in at the Ryan Chelsea-Clinton Community Health Center in Hells Kitchen (Clinton), NYC, I reunited with Joe Preston, cousin of my late friend and Warhol superstar, Jackie Curtis. As executor of the Estate of Jackie Curtis, Joe commissioned me to render Jackie’s portrait, which was on display at The Proposition in Chelsea, NYC during October 2004.

In February 2005, I exhibited animal pieces in a one-man show called, “Neddie’s Animal Tales,” with Jadite Gallery in Hells Kitchen (Clinton), NYC.
